Born September 15, 1998, kyndl (pronounced as kindle) is an American rapper and singer/songwriter from Indianapolis, Indiana. Formerly known as ameriKKKen, she first got her start while in college in April of 2018, releasing a 5-minute-remix on SoundCloud of Three 6 Mafia’s “Who Run It’,” which was well-received. Followed by her debut single in May titled “The Come Up,” it was accompanied by a visual, both of which also received positive feedback. Motivated by the support, she continued to garner attention through the release of both original music, as well as freestyles across her social media accounts, many of which going viral. Consequently, she gained a following and co-sign early on by artists such as Trinidad James, Danny Brown, Westside Boogie and Denzel Curry, to name a few. However, she quickly went on to further grow an audience and make her television debut just a year later in 2019, after appearing on the inaugural season of Netflix’s “Rhythm + Flow.”
Releasing her debut EP “KHAOTIC” in September of 2019, she successfully headlined her own release show as well in her hometown of Indianapolis, in celebration of it. Additionally, she has done over 20+ shows, including being on a bill for the festival Chreece, alongside the Shady Records-signed act Griselda. Accomplishing this all while still a college student, an independent artist, and known by her previous stage name, she has also been featured in publications such as the Indy Star, as well as on WFYI, an affiliate of National Public Radio (NPR). In May of 2020 she graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, with a concentration in Audio Production, and followed up her debut EP with another EP titled “KAPPED,” to commemorate the milestone. She then closed out the year with a third EP titled “KORON.”
The following year, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to further pursue a career in music, and released two stand-along singles. During this time, she adjusted to a new normal as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and relocating, as well as pondering on the thought of a rebrand to reflect both her growth as an artist, as well as an individual. Now known as kyndl, she’s excited for what the future holds, with her debut album slated to be released this year, in May of 2022.
